Cape Towns Northern Suburbs Offers a Great Choice of Estates

Category News

A growing preference for estate living is making an increasing impact on home buying decisions in Cape Towns Northern Suburbs.

So says Charl Louw, owner of the local Chas Everitt International franchise, who notes that while they are by no means as prolific as in the city's southern suburbs or urban areas in other parts of the country, luxury estates are increasingly becoming part of the landscape in the Northern Suburbs and are attracting many buyers thanks to the secure and carefree lifestyle they offer.

Durbanville, long a quiet enclave for buyers preferring space and a tranquil lifestyle, is leading the race with several upmarket estates offering an excellent choice of homes across a wide price range, he says.

Options include the Belvedere Estate in the heart of Durbanville, for instance, which offers homes priced at between R2,600,000 and R4,575,000 within walking distance of the local high school and within minutes of the Durbanville wine route.

Prices in the Fairtrees Estate range from about R2,000,000 to R3,500,000, and the homes here are built in the attractive traditional Cape farm style. The estate is also conveniently situated near local primary, high and private schools and close to medical and shopping facilities.

Meanwhile, the Greenville Golf Estate is a highly popular choice and, besides the golf course, offers a large central park where residents can relax while their children play in secure surroundings. Home prices here range between R2,700,000 and R2,300,000.

Prices in Berghshoop, close to the Cape Gate shopping Centre and within easy reach of the N1, range between R1,500,000 and R2,600,000. This estate is especially geared towards family living and residents relish the small-community atmosphere within a safe environment, says Louw.

De Keur Estate is an exclusive development of 20 units situated on the border of Durbanville and offers wide views of the surrounding farmland. Prices average R4,100,000 and homes are especially targeted, he says, by buyers with young families.

Pinehurst, developed on agricultural land, retains an atmosphere of wide open spaces thanks to broad, landscaped boulevards and verdant vegetation. The estate overlooks the Durbanville Hills and the Simonsberg and home prices here range between R1,200,000 and R2,300,000.

Louw says surrounding suburbs such as Plattekloof, Brackenfell, Kanonberg, Welgedacht and Kuils River also offer a selection of prestigious estates, including the signature Zewenwacht Country Estate, where prices range from R2,400,000 to R4,200,000 and Zevendal, offering units at prices between R1,200,000 to R2,500,000.

Zevenwacht Country Estate is next to the world famous Zevenwacht Winery and offers spectacular views over the farm, dams, Table Mountain, Strand and the Northern Suburbs. Residents have access to all the amenities of the winery while their neighbours in Zevendal enjoy access to country delights such as local cheeses and wines, as well as ample opportunities to enjoy performing arts.
