Emmarentia at a glance

This attractive established suburb with tree-lined avenues is almost 4km in size.  It lies between two main transport routes, Barry Hertzog Avenue & Beyers Naude Drive.        Emmarentia shares borders with Greenside, Linden, Melville, Montgomery Park, Roosevelt Park & Victory Park.      

The proximity to these suburbs increases all the education options & amenities to avail oneself of. 

There is a large choice of excellent schools. Emmarentia Primary & the Japanese School are in the heart of Emmarentia . Close by are Greenside Primary & High Schools, Roosevelt Primary & High Schools, The German School,  DelaSalle Holy Cross College & King David Victory Park . Afrikaans medium schools - Jan Cilliers, Louw Geldenhuys & Linden Hoer are all within a 10 minute drive.                                                                                                               

Wits University Campus & UJ are easily accessible.  Johannesburg CBD is only 8km away.

The suburb is a favourite with Doctors who wish to reside near to the many hospitals that are close by including Helen Joseph, Garden City Clinic, Rosebank Clinic, Milpark Clinic & the Donny Gordon Centre.

One of the greatest attractions in Emmarentia is undoubtedly the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens & Emmarentia Dam.                                                                                                           

The Botanical Gardens incorporate a beautiful Rose & Herb Garden and a sprawling area which is a favourite with Dog Owners to walk their Dogs. An added bonus is the prolific Bird Life and abundance of various trees & plants. The shady trees and grassed area surrounding the Dam attract many picnickers over weekends.                                                                                                                                                            

Emmarentia Dam is home to the Dabulamanzi Canoe Club & the Emmarentia Sailing Club.  Windsurfing is also popular.  The vibrant sports club - Marks Park offers Tennis, Rugby, Soccer & Cricket amongst many other activities.

Restaurants are plentiful - the proximity to Melville, Greenside, Parkhurst & Linden giving one a variety of choices.

Emmarentia has a large Checkers Supermarket.  Other food Store options are Woolworths -both in Greenside & Victory Park & Pick & Pay at Victory Park Centre.  Both these centres are a short drive away.                                                                                                                            

For a larger Shopping Mall experience, Cresta & Rosebank Malls have plenty to offer and are easily accessible.

The residences in Emmarentia are large, well built and generally have lush manicured gardens & swimming pools.  The stand areas are usually 1450sqm going up to 4000sqm on Emmarentia Ridge.   Prices start from R 2.5million up to R 5 million dependent on accommodation & fittings. The homes in Emmarentia have a wonderful classic feel with many of these properties offering parkade wooden flooring and beautiful pressed ceilings. Emmarentia homes do all have something for everyone, ranging from an extremely modern to classic rustic feel properties.

                                                                                                       
The area on the Ridge has the advantage of being boomed off and offering spectacular views of
Johannesburg. Properties there are usually in excess of R 4 million.

Cluster Complexes, Townhouses and Apartment are alternate types of residences available in this suburb.

Emmarentia is very popular with Muslim buyers. The proximity of the Greenside Mosque & Schools is a big draw card as are the large homes available enabling them to accommodate elderly parents. 

Other places of worship close by are St Charles Catholic Church, St Thomas Anglican Church, Dutch Reformed Church & Emmarentia & Greenside Shul.

Families living in Emmarentia have the best of both worlds - they enjoy the advantage of proximity to amenities without sacrificing the picturesque & tranquil environment.
