Fisherhaven at a glance

Fisherhaven & Middelvlei Estate

Situated on the Botriver Lagoon, next to a Marine Nature Reserve and close to miles of Pristine beaches. Surrounded by stunning mountains and vineyards - 15 minutes from Hermanus.

Fisherhaven Country Village is surrounded by the magnificent Kogelberg mountain range on the banks of the Botriver Lagoon - opposite Arabella 5-star Golf course estate, adjacent to Benguela Cove Lagoon and Wine estate and next to a Nature Reserve, within walking distance to the lagoon Estuary, with miles of pristine beaches. The most affordable area on the lagoon with plots from R350 000 and houses from R1 million.

Fisherhaven is a country village that has been designated as a low-density area - all the plots are large from around 800sqm up to 3200 sqm. There are also large areas of Fisherhaven that are designated parks, open areas, and two large areas zoned for schools (which given the low-density of the area, are unlikely to be developed and therefore will remain as commonage).

Middelvlei Marine Estate nestled between the lagoon and miles of unspoilt beaches. Offers a choice of different homes from 5* too cute holiday rondavels. Affordable levies include resident's tennis courts; swimming pool and function centre. Prices start from around R800 000 for one-bedroom wooden chalets, set in a Milkwood forest. Plots in FLAMINGO BAY, an exciting new development on the lagoon start from R450 000.

Fast becoming a highly sought after eco-sensitive area to invest in, here are some reasons why:

South Africa has gained international importance to the Bot River Lagoon Estuarine system as a designated RAMSAR site. Recognized as one of the ten most significant wetlands for water birds in South Africa and is also an important nursery area for fish - with 41 species from 24 families recorded of which 19 species are dependent on estuaries to complete their life cycle. Imagine coming home after a stressful workday to the peace and beauty of this piece of paradise, or taking weekend breaks and enjoying long lazy summer holidays in this nature lover's dream location.

Activities include: Water sports and fishing, (join the charming local boat club); coastal and mountain hiking; cycling; relax and soak up the beautiful scenery; admire the small herd of wild horses that often visit Fisherhaven and enjoy the abundant bird life in this area.

Our resident herd of wild horses are a delight to everyone and are allowed to roam and forage freely in the Village.

Sports: all types of water sports with the exception of jet ski's take place on our lagoon. There is a free slip for boat launching, which also has a picnic area with ablutions and a playground area for children.

Join our local Yacht club- which has a lovely club house and panoramic views of the lagoon, surrounding mountains and countryside. The lagoon is safe for swimming close to shore - but please be careful when the lagoon is open to the sea as there is a strong current and there are no lifeguards - so parents, please watch your children when in the water.

Hiking- our local community has established some lovely hiking paths for you to enjoy. These are also suitable for cycling.

Visit local wine estates, beaches and historical places of interest in the area or whale watching in nearby Hermanus, which has many shops, restaurants and activities.

Nature & environment: The whole of the area is an eco-sensitive area that we are very protective of. The marine and coastal birdlife is abundant and varied and includes Flamingos and visiting Pelicans as well as resident Fish eagles and Owls- we also have hiking trails along the lagoon.

Security: we have a very close-knit community in Fisherhaven and due to an excellent security company, based in the center of the village, plus a very active neighbourhood watch, currently have the lowest crime statistics in the Overberg!

Medical: Fisherhaven does not have medical facilities, but has EMS (Emergency Medical Services) on call, who respond within 15 / 20 minutes and will transport you to Hermanus Medi Clinic.

Schools: We have a local nursery for the little ones, a bus service to Hermanus Primary and High schools (both of whom have very good academic records); plus we have a CURRO - a top class private school, less than 15 minutes from Fisherhaven - which offers transport from Kleinmond - Fisherhaven and surrounding areas.

There is quite a lot of children in Fisherhaven and mums also have lift clubs for school children.

Shops: You will not spend a lot of money in Fisherhaven - we currently have one general store, which stock basic items. The closest large shopping mall, the Whale Coast Mall with everything you need, is  just 15 minutes away.

Entertainment: We have a local restaurant in the village center and there are many more in the surrounding area; wine farms, model aircraft club; hiking and biking clubs, classic car club, Formula 1 enthusiasts. There is so much to do and see in this area.

Fisherhaven focus - Do have a look at our local newspaper, for what is happening in our area!

Prices in Fisherhaven Country Village and Middelvlei Marine Estate are still excellent value at present, be sure to consider investing in this area before they catch up with surrounding estates and towns.
