The growing strength of Chas Everitt’s Zimbabwe operation is providing an encouraging reflection of renewed confidence in the country, with the property group expanding its presence, achieving strong sales and rental results and collecting a string of industry accolades.
The latest recognition of its agents’ achievements came at the glittering Chas Everitt Zimbabwe awards ceremony held recently at the Hyatt Regency Harare, where they were celebrated for their outstanding work in the 2025/26 year.
Bulawayo-based agent Lesley Lee was named Overall Top Sales Agent as well as Overall Top Listing Agent. Lee was also the top sales agent in the Bulawayo branch, while Ratidzo Makwara took the top sales agent position at the Gunhill operation and Rutendo Rupapa at Mt Pleasant.
The rental side of the business produced equally strong results. Florence Taderera was named Overall Top Rentals Agent as well as the top rentals position at the Gunhill branch. Joanne Tall took the top rentals position in Bulawayo, while Ireen Madanhi was the leading rentals agent at Mt Pleasant.
Beyond the group’s own network, Chas Everitt Zimbabwe was recently named Best Corporate Property Group of 2026 at the Bulawayo Business Awards – an accolade that reflects, in the words of the company, its team's dedication, the trust placed in it by clients and its commitment to delivering exceptional service every day.
In addition, property manager Jo-Anne George was recently recognised in Harare by Zimbabwe Women with an award for Outstanding Growth in Property Management, adding another dimension to the growing list of achievements by the Zimbabwe team.
The recognition comes only months after Chas Everitt expanded its Harare operation with the official opening of a second office in the capital. Announced in May, the move brought the group's total presence in Zimbabwe to three locations, with further expansion under consideration.
Indeed, group COO Barry Davies says the group is focused on building a robust national network capable of supporting both domestic buyers and Zimbabwe's large global diaspora, given the rapidly increasing activity in the country’s real estate market.
Chas Everitt Zimbabwe principal Evelyn Mbundire has previously noted growing investment in mining and tourism, both of which are attracting local and international interest and helping to stimulate demand for quality residential property in key urban areas. She has also highlighted the return of affluent Zimbabwean expatriates to the property market, with many buying homes ahead of a possible future return to the country. Some are renting these properties out in the interim, while others are retaining them for family use.
There are also broader developments suggesting that Zimbabwe is becoming increasingly connected to international markets. In July, Air Zimbabwe restored direct scheduled flights between Harare and London Gatwick after a 14-year absence. The service initially operates three times a week, restoring an important direct link with the United Kingdom and its substantial Zimbabwean diaspora.
The government is also seeking to diversify the country's international tourism markets, including through the deployment of tourism attaches in emerging source markets and initiatives to strengthen Zimbabwe's international tourism presence and air connectivity.
For the property sector, says Davies, these developments matter because improved access, rising tourism activity, increased investment and the return of members of the diaspora can all contribute to greater demand for accommodation, residential property and property-related services.
