Fontainebleau at a glance

Fontainebleau Overview
Fontainebleau offers a mixture and range of property with varying sizes and styles.
Part of the reason for this is the somewhat "eclectic" design of the streets in the area, with a mix of wide streets and narrower avenues as opposed to the more traditional street layouts seen in Randburg giving Fontainebleau a somewhat distinctive feel.
Area Location
Centrally positioned between Randburg central & Cresta, Fontainebleau is ideally situated for access to the JHB northern suburbs as well as the northwest of Johannesburg.
Suburbs bordering Fontainebleau
Neighbouring Fontainebleau suburbs include:
  • Robindale
  • Malanshof
  • Randpark
  • Randpark Ridge
  • Moret
Fontainebleau Property Makeup
Most of the properties in the suburb are traditional freehold with only 170 out of the almost 900 properties falling into the sectional title property sector. In saying that
Fontainebleau townhouse complexes where prices range from R900 000 to R1 500 000 are still highly sought after amongst first time home buyers.
As in many of the more established Randburg suburbs, many Fontainebleau properties which were originally built in the 1970's have been extended and renovated.
Fontainebleau properties often fit the traditional three bedroom, two bathroom on decent stand sizes (although many properties have been extended) which are ideal for the average family.
Fontainebleau Demographics
Fontainebleau residents tend to stay for longer periods - in many cases due to the schools in the area.
This is borne out by the high percentage of Fontainebleau property owners that have owned their properties for over 10 years.
A younger demographic dominated the recent property buyer statistics with just under 80% of this group under the age of 50 and close on 40% being under 35, backing up the assertion that much of the areas popularity is due to its access to good schools.
Fontainebleau Schools & Facilities
Fontainebleau has a good Afrikaans primary school in Laerskool Fontainebleau as well as being close to one of the leading English speaking public high schools, Randpark High.
There are also several popular private schools in close range including the Kings School in Robindale, Trinity in Randpark Ridge, and Charterhouse.
Fontainebleau is close to a number of regional and local shopping centres including the Cresta Shopping Centre and Randridge Mall and is around the corner from the popular Randburg Sports Grounds.
