Bokkomlaan – similarly rich in history as it is in fish and birdlife.

Offered as one of the very last open stands fronting onto Bokkomlaan with its public boat launching site, this large plot offers spectacular views of the Berg River estuary which is alive with thousands of Curlew Sandpipers and Plovers while the otter and the mongoose makes its home along this tidal river which is navigable for many kilometers upstream. Flocks of feeding pink flamingos and pelicans add a sense of surrealism.
Bokkom Laan (Lane) is the home of a small bokkom industry in Velddrif where it feels as if the clock has stopped. (Bokkoms are Mullet that are salted, then strung into bunches and hung up to dry, almost like a fish biltong) But it is not all just Bokkoms that you will find in Bokkom Laan, there are quaint curiosity shops, restaurants, tea shops and an art gallery along the water’s edge where cheerful locals are only too happy to feed and natter with visitors.
The vista of wooden jetties, small fishing boats swaying lazily in the afternoon sun in this unique setting of reeds and river and birds and pelicans soothe the senses and revive the spirit.
