George towards the east consists of the following suburbs: Blue Mountain, Kraaibosch and Welgelegen towards the furthest eastern town edges and from there back to town, Eden, Loerie Park, Lavalia, Denver Park, Genevafontein, Panorama, Bergsig and George East, the latter being the older area closest to town. The first three suburbs, Welgelegen, Kraaibosch and Blue Mountain, fully developed security estates, are still offering open erven or newly built properties. On approaching George from the Wilderness area and the lovely Kaaimans Pass, a traveler and potential buyer would on their right hand, find these well planned suburbs a pleasant experience. While travelling into town with Knysna Road, further enhancements are provided by views of the continuing Outeniqua mountain range, mini golf course and driving range, equestrian facilities, and school with large sport fields.The character of George's early developments have been carried over into these suburbs by naming one of the school hostels, Oompie Meyer, donator of the property for the hostel, and to one of the schools, Van Kervel school, named after the first magistrate of George.
