Some useful information regarding Randburg located in Gauteng

Gauteng - Randburg

RANDBURG: GAUTENG

Randburg is a city situated in the North Western portion of greater Johannesburg. Randburg residents are generally seen as affluent and enjoy peace and quiet, convenient access to all major roads including the likes of Malibongwe drive, Beyers Naude Drive, Jan Smuts and the N1 Highway leading to Pretoria and beyond. This modern city is made up by over 32 leafy Suburbs, mostly residential and all interblended with cultural diversity and beautiful architectural design.

Subsequent to plans being drafted to develop a Randburg CBD (central business district) in the early 1960's, the retail activity comprised a shopping strip along Jan Smuts Ave and Hendrik Verwoerd Drive, which resulted in the astonishing growth that crafted the infrastructure for Randburg's strong business orientated Urban design. In 2004, Johannesburg approved plans to declare the Randburg CBD a city improvement district (CID). By 2005 the City of Johannesburg assisted in revitalizing Randburg's beauty with the financial injection of R5-million for development. The transformation since can be noticed by the incredibly vibrant mixture of commercial development and suburban lifestyle in Randburg. Randburg forms part of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality together with Sandton and Roodepoort.

Randburg is an upmarket area known for its many family friendly eating, shopping and entertainment facilities and park like areas. The residents in Randburg tend to be more affluent than most Johannesburg dwellers. Here one will witness large lavish homes and an abundance of boutiques. In fact, Randburg is well known for its selection of shopping centres, entertainment areas and facilities, including well known and popular malls such as Brightwater Commons, the sprawling Cresta Centre, accessible NorthGate and a number of other smaller suburban centres. Whilst it was for many years known as the “Randburg Waterfront”, a new and improved Brightwater Commons has emerged – a facility which has become a firm family favourite.

Randburg is a “warm” place filled with families, friendly folk and superb facilities and road access – it’s a place where there’s something for everyone.

Randburg Property

Randburg offers a wide range of properties from luxurious mansions to affordable first time homes.

Many of the older suburbs such as Blairgowrie, Ferndale, Darrenwood and Robindale in the area have gone through a revamp and gentrification process and it is not uncommon to see upgrading and modernisation of some of the stately older properties underway. Intermingled amongst the older suburbs you have large townhouse and cluster developments which have become increasingly popular over recent years and form a high percentage of the property sales occurring in the area.

With the large number of corporate headquarters such as FNB having migrated into the vicinity in recent years, the Randburg property market remains a popular one where affordable properties are still available from both a rental and a purchase perspective. This “migration” bodes well for property prices in the future as people seek property closer to the workplace.

Value for money and scope – this defines the Randburg property market – whether you are looking for an affordable flat, a spacious townhouse, a secure cluster, a sprawling family home, an upmarket gold estate, a smallholding or a palatial mansion – Randburg has it all.
