McGregor Property and area Information McGregor is a charming and quaint village situated at the base of the Riviersonderend Mountains in the Western Cape, around 150 odd kilometres from the Mother City of Cape Town and about 20 kilometres from neighbouring Robertson. McGregor houses for sale vary tremendously in price – from cottages on offer from R800 000 to the likes of guest houses for around R2 500 00 to R3 000 000. McGregor’s History McGregor has been on the map since it was established back in the mid 1800’s when it was first known as “Lady Grey” (there were 2 Lady Grey’s in SA at that time!) before it was renamed in honor of a local Minister - Andrew McGregor. McGregor houses are well known for providing pristine examples of traditional old thatch cottages with mini orchards and gardens, all immaculately kept from the mid 1800’s. Outdoor Activities in and around McGregor McGregor has also been building a name as a result of its access to good hiking trails and nature reserves. The Krans Nature reserve which is on McGregor’s doorstep is under development and the likes of the Vrolikheid Reserve is a few kilometres away.
