Chas Everitt International to open in Hermanus
Fast-growing property group Chas Everitt International is set to expand its franchise network in the Western Cape with the opening of a Hermanus office in September.
The franchise rights have been awarded to Braam and Ulindi Kok, who have gained extensive experience in management and real estate over the past 20 years and operated a successful estate agency in Secunda for more than eight years.
Braam, who has an MBA to his credit and who was manager of Management Systems at Sasol, says the move from the Highveld to the Cape coastal belt was a lifestyle decision. “With Ulindi’s vast experience as estate agent and principal, it made sense for us to open an agency and we jumped at the opportunity to join Chas Everitt International because of its growing reputation as an innovative leader in the industry.”
The new office, which will be situated at the Hemel-en-Aarde craft village at Hermanus, will serve the coastal stretch from Rooiels to Gansbaai. Dedicated area agents will be appointed for all the coastal towns while permanent satellite offices will be established in Gansbaai and Kleinmond. Kok plans to appoint a team of between 12 and 15 experienced area agents.
A permanent expo centre to showcase properties in the area will also be established in offices at 126 Main Street, Hermanus.
Kok foresees continued growth for the Hermanus area. “Our research shows that the past eight years have been a period of sustained growth in property values albeit at different tempos. Interest in property here is still high and I foresee possibilities for sustained development of the whole area for at least the next two decades.”
Property prices in the area start at around R500 000 while luxury homes are sold for up to R10-million and more. Kok notes that homes in the small villages along the coast are on average still cheaper than Hermanus property, which starts at around the R1,5-million mark.
The area also still attracts foreign buyers, who represent about 10 percent of buyers, Kok says. “Another 10 percent are local residents upgrading, but the bulk are people relocating for lifestyle reasons and people living within a 150km radius buying holiday and weekend homes.”
