Exclusive Mvubu estate launches
Serene
country living is on offer at the new Mvubu River Reserve in Paradise Beach,
about 5km from Jeffreys Bay in the Eastern Cape.
The development is positioned on the southern bank of the Zeekoei River, approximately 800m upriver from the sea. It offers 17 huge north-facing freehold stands with unimpeded views across the river towards the nature reserve that is protected by the Department of Nature Conservation. Prices range from R995 000 to R1,195m.
The emphasis is firmly on a lifestyle of space, security and tranquility, surrounded by natural beauty, that would suit people who appreciate the bounty nature has to offer, says Marnus van Tonder of the Chas Everitt International office in Jeffreys Bay, which is marketing the development.
Stand sizes range from 2400sqm to 3400sqm and each has about 30m river frontage, allowing residents to launch their river craft from their doorstep. To retain the tranquil atmosphere, no motorised craft will be permitted but there are ample opportunities for canoeing, sailing and swimming.
The river also offers a lively fishing experience, with cob, steenbras, grunter and garrick being the more common catches. Although the odd fish may be kept for the pan or the braai, the catch and release of all species will be strongly encouraged.
The
birdlife in the area is also prolific. Fish eagles, kingfishers, cormorants,
herons and various species of duck are frequently sighted and flocks of flamingoes
also visit the river once in a while.
Van Tonder says as much as possible of the existing flora will be retained and the use of indigenous shrubs and trees that fit in with the natural surroundings will be encouraged.
As for architecture, the East Cape vernacular or contemporary farmhouse style is recommended as being most harmonious with the environment. A main feature of this style is verandas and pergolas, which link the buildings to the landscape.
We have already had strong interest from buyers and have sold five stands ahead of the official launch this month (subs: December 2007). And due to the exclusivity of the development and the lack of any similar properties in the area, we expect the remaining 12 stands to sell quite quickly, he says.
