Top property award for Chas Everitt franchisee
Midrand franchise principal Rali Mampeule has been named as the 2006 winner of the national Nedbank Property Professional of the Year award - the real estate industry's highest independent accolade.
This follows his recognition by the PA Property Professional Club last year as a Young Lion of real estate, in recognition of his potential as a future leader of the industry.
Mampeule, the first black to acquire a Chas Everitt International franchise, competed against 11 other finalists for the Property Professional of the Year title and was declared the winner only after a series of tough interviews in which he was judged on his commitment to industry transformation and leadership as well as his sales ability.
The award was presented at a gala event held at the Arabella resort in the Western Cape this weekend and is all the more remarkable, notes Chas Everitt International MD Berry Everitt, "because Rali has only been in the real estate industry a little over five years.

"We are obviously extremely proud of his achievements and the passion with which he promotes property ownership, and real estate as a career."
Born to a proud and royal family of the legendary Rain Queen Modjadji, Mampeule says he came to appreciate early in life that property ownership creates pride, stability and prosperity - and that this led to his decision to enter the real estate industry immediately after matric.
Having completed his initial training as an agent, he then decided to establish his own agency, and acquired the Chas Everitt International franchise in Midrand - which quickly became one of the top performers in the area.
To actualise his determination to help transform the industry, his very next move was to establish the Rali Mampeule Learnership Programme, "which provides previously disadvantaged individuals with the practical skills they need to access the many opportunities there are in real estate," he says.
At the same time, Mampeule has ensured that his own agency is a model of cultural and racial diversity at work. He employs 15 agents, of whom 60% are women and 74% are black. The youngest is 23 years old and the eldest is 58.
He also works hard to promote home ownership and further the understanding of property transactions, and is often heard on radio and seen on TV giving property buyers and investors advice on changing marketing conditions. He also offers monthly seminars to both new buyers and seasoned investors to encourage further investment in property and more recently has helped establish the Soweto Homes and Property magazine.
In addition to his BCom from Unisa, Mampeule has received his CRS designation and completed a Sectional Title Specialist course. He has also written and passed the Estate Agency Affairs Board exam and continues to attend real estate courses to enhance his position as a highly skilled real estate professional.
