Five green resolutions for 2010Over the past few months we've passed on lots of ideas about living 'green' and saving resources - from roof insulation and water conservation to alternative power generation and organic gardening. Now, to start the new year, here are a few easy-to-keep resolutions that will help to make your 2010 an even greener year: * Get plastic and paper bags out of your life for good by making it a habit to take at least one reusable shopping bag with you whenever you leave the house. Keep one with your keys and wallet or in your handbag to make it easy. * Switch as many of your monthly bills as you can to e-billing, and try to avoid printing them out at home. Rather create a new filing system on your computer so you can keep your financial records electronically. * Start composting at home. It's really easy to do and you'll get free organic fertiliser for your garden. * Walk more - to work if you can, to the shops and to the park or the gym. It's good for your health as well as that of the planet. And if you're in the market for a new car, think seriously about a hybrid. * Where fashion and beauty are concerned, switch to all-natural cosmetics (or make your own) and try shopping for clothes at secondhand or charity shops before hitting the mall.
